He was "the best guy around". For years, playing the role of savior and care taker, family man. However, it surely was all about him. I became bored with the day to day. Drinking at the cabin and drinking at the bon fire and drinking at the caves game, hunting and moonshine.
I was suffocating and I no longer wore a smile on my face.
I couldn't play the game anymore.

Leaving, I stayed intimate with him, mentally and sexually.
Sharing about our dating life, I'd listen to him make fun of the woman. Explaining how religious she was and cracking jokes about her possibly having herpes, I had know idea there was an actual presence living there. Thankfully she was thrilled about him hanging with the kids one day and I was handed truth in a social media post.

This song was written in resentment mode however, I no longer allow that type of occupancy in my thoughts and emotions.

I am utterly thankful to be in a space where I can be genuinely happy for someone who once hurt me.
